Did you try the VX-5 Twenty Amp? I find Bryston a bit cold sounding but the biggest I tried was the 4B cubed.

No I haven’t. It does not have the power output of my Classe CA2300 which is 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 600 into 4 ohms.

While I am sure the Ayre paring would be excellent together with the preamp I have, I was looking for a significant jump in power over what I have, but I do know that has nothing to do with overall sound quality.

I had an earlier Bryston 4B I had on loan from my dealer (series just before the new cubed version), and I agree like you stated was a bit cold and it did not sound as organic as my Classe, but I read very good reviews on the new Cubed series being much smoother which intrigued me.

I may never get rid of my Classe until it fails as it is a very fine amplifier and a good match with the 802D3’s.

I know that this is an old thread, but I am driving my 802D3 speakers with the Mcintosh MC-501 mono amps and love the sound!!!
