Earth is not the best planet in the universe for life

Earth is not necessarily the best planet in the universe for life, a new study has found.

Researchers have found some 24 planets that are "superhabitable", offering conditions more suitable for life than they are here on Earth.

And some of them even have better stars than our own Sun, the researchers said.

The new study looked for worlds that would be even more likely to foster life than our own – including those that are older, bigger, warmer and wetter than Earth – in the hope of informing future searches for life elsewhere in the universe.

The study identified 24 of the “superhabitable” planets. They are all 100 light years away, making them difficult if not impossible to ever see up close, but research with future telescopes could give us much more information about those worlds.

100 light years away is literally our own “city block” if not “next door neighbor” in cosmic proportions. Yet 24 super-habitable planets are presented. Imagine the billions of other galaxies with billions of other stars and countless planets in each... Mind Blowing. How does one chose where to move? :D

We need to learn the fine art of folding space.

Indeed. Otherwise it’s just a tease... imagine there being a whole paradise planet for each individual out of the 7,800,000,000 on this one and no way to get there to claim that frontier as your own. It’s not exactly a Lewis and Clark expedition.

I suppose owning your own planet somewhere in the universe is a rather satisfying feeling?

How about a Saturday afternoon get together on my Gallazenterra-1? I’ll grill a few juicy “dynozarkiabs” and we can wash them down with some vintage Cali Cabs from the “old planet”. You can show off your latest Porsche SpaceWarp-GT7 with the latest warp-drive and that fancy galactic navigation module. We can carve some serious space-time to Xandria to watch the 5 moon eclipse and make it back just in time for the Calandria Sunset. :smoking: Life is good.

I am tiring of contemplating the universe, black holes, aliens and conspiracies. I need a break for a few weeks.

Then I suggest you don't read my posts. Its as simple as that really.

This is the problem today, people feel so entitled as to tell others what they should or should not do, what they can or can not tolerate. Hey, I have news for you, no one cares... :smoking:

Ivan can ask me to stop posting these topics if he so wishes, this is HIS site and that would be completely acceptable to me. I am posting these topics in the "General OFF Topic" section and I was under the impression that some other members found the topic interesting.
