EtherREGEN - Do you hear any difference?

Hi guys,
Been somewhat interested in the UpToneAudio EtherREGEN.
My question to you who have crossed paths with this device is:
Do/did you hear any difference?

Thank you
Andre

This is a complicated question in my opinion. I have never found a single network device that made an obvious difference.

However, combining several changes in my network chain DID make an appreciable difference. The EtherRegen was part of that upgrade.

So, anyone who is wondering about this should read up on improving your whole chain - your network throughput starting at the modem, switches, fiber, some kind of filter like the EtherRegen or GigaFoil, better ethernet cables than freebies, etc.

I found that running fiber to my Etherregen from my main switch and then using an AQ Diamond ethernet from the EtherRegen to my network DAC was all very worthwhile.

YMMV.

Yes. Big, big improvement over generic Ethernet switches. The reasons for this are fairly complex; you can read why in my review of it in The Absolute Sound.

It comes with a good power supply but does benefit from using better ones e.g. UpTone LPS 1.2, Keces P3, etc.

My recommendation is to use it with a Shunyata Ethernet cable from to a network bridge, streamer, or comparable device.

Puma cat do you have a link to your review?

Does this replace the ethernet switch that I have I'm my server room (upstairs from my listening room), or should it be placed close to the streamer?

From what I’ve read, close to the streamer.

The EtherRegen essentially provides a clean signal on the output side. You can put it anywhere, but the further from your streamer, the more opportunity for noise to be reintroduced along the way. I have mine next to my streamer with a .75 meter Ethernet to the streamer.

Thanks, the length was going to be my next question. Is it the shorter the better? Is the .75m a recommended length?

EtherREGEN - Do you hear any difference?

The last segment being short allows you to invest in a better cable without breaking the bank.

But shorter is also better because as Tony said, it minimizes the chance of noise being reintroduced after the EtherRegen.
