Any Single-driver Full-range Listeners Here?

Have always been interested in single-driver, full-range speakers. Any number available with drivers from Fostex, SEAS, TAD, Vovatix, etc. Size & price varies from inexpensive ($600) to sky's the limit where the drivers are $20K/pair.

Anyone use or done any significant listening to any single-driver speakers? I'm intrigued by their lack of any crossover, which can only detract from what our amplifier feeds the speaker. Charney Audio is just up the road (100mi) from me in northern NJ and his speakers run the gamut from reasonably priced to just under $100K. There are several other 'boutique' suppliers of single-driver speakers. Think I'll give them an audition once cooler weather arrives.

if done correctly they are stunning, we are working on a design now using the voxativ drivers, they are very nice. the seas and tad drivers are coaxial drivers, not a full range like the voxativ, fostex, feastek, lowther. etc

SEAS - full-range/not a coax driver. http://www.seas.no/index.php?option=...=93&Itemid=504

Hope to audition the Charney Maestro-X with the Voxativ 2.6 once we can arrange a mutually agreeable time.

Yes, definitely. In this embodiment.
But some flat cone driver with a whizzer cone, maybe not so much.
The Lowther’s have a resonant peak above the midrange that creates a feeling of extended highs and openness - until it annoys you. The Fostex is similar. I haven’t heard the SEAS or TAD drivers yet - those would be interesting.

Look into the Lii Audio single driver speakers they come highly recommended by Decware as they use their drivers in their speakers. A friend just received a pair of their floor standers and they sound very, very good.

Does your friend have Lii or Decware speakers? Do you know which model?
Thanks.

Please let us know what you think. They look interesting and might work for my Heresy IV replacement. I need a close to wall, high sensitivity speaker for my bar area which I can power w a Fire Bottle Amp.

JD - perhaps you would be interested in joining me for the ride up to Somerset, NJ to audition. Brian Charney is a full-time employee of Mercedes, so is only available on weekends. My hope is to go up one weekend day in Sept. We can discuss off-line if interested.

I distinctly remember the Voxativ System 9.87 was the best sounding room at the 2018 RMAF. I'm still convinced of that nearly 4 years on.
