Made a decision
Have not posted since February, been awful not to have music.
Took a long time but decided on replacement amplifier after selling my McIntosh MC312. Decided to order McIntosh MC1502 power amplifier. In the past all previous McIntosh power amplifiers and now decided to go with tube amplifier. My last tube amplifier was the Anthem Amp 1 ( part of Sonic Frontiers back then ) in the 1990's which was 40 watts per channel. When I had the MC312, power meters showed average of 3 watts per channel with peaks of 30 watts. Hopefully with the MC1502 being less than half the power of MC312 will still work well in my room? Thoughts on this amplifier? Audio Excellence in Toronto did give really good review for the MC1502. Now to wait for it too arrive... Dan |
Dan… Big Congrats!

Congrats Dan. You've made a good choice in the 1502. I've owned one for just about 4 months now and recently wrote up my opinion of it in the thread below.
You're in for a treat. Simple as that. What speakers are you going to be driving with the 1502? |
Congrats on the order of MC1502 amp. I ordered my MC1502 in early April and am expecting an October delivery. I would not be surprise by another delay.

Congrats on the 1502. I am sure you will love it!

Great choice! If I was looking to go tube for an amp it'd definitely be the 1502. 150W should be more than enough and will be a great combo with your D1100.

Absolute congrats! I understand that Mac is selling them as quickly as they can be produced. I never thought I would see the day that Mac would be so into tubes. How things have changed. Not that their SS is not absolutely superb, but I reluctantly agree that tubes do sound better than SS. However, the 1.25 remains the King of my Thor. Again, absolute congrats! And I hope you will be pleasantly surprised by the delivery time.

Only thing I will miss is not having power meters like the SS amps. Is there any way to judge power output using output levels on my D1100. Dan |
