Imsa 2023

Sebring this weekend. Watched some extremely good racing yesterday with the Pilot Challenge Series. Both GS and TCR put on a great show. Those Beemers where tough late and finished 1-2.

Anyone planning on watching. I think Peacock will be covering the action this weekend.

I will be watching! Sebring is a fun track to drive. It will beat up the drivers and cars.

I don't think the Pilot cars yesterday really showed how rough that track is. Qualifying for the prototypes had those cars bouncing all over the place. Very hard track on the equipment and drivers.

Yes it is. We broke an axle at the wheel after a 8 hrs on day 1 and at the 6 the mark of day 2 in 2021. Of course that was an axle from a 1980’s Lincoln on our 1965 Ford Ranchero.

I'd bet axles back in those days where pretty stoutly made.

GTD Pro looks to have gotten back on top of GTD (thru an adjustment of of the "performance allowance"?) and is very competitive. That's great to see with all the marques giving it everything they've got. Hopefully, none of them will drop out. Looks to be anyone's game for the season at this point.

Going to have to find the video of the last 30 minutes. Was on a plane returning from Nice for all but an hour of the race.

Peacock may have a rerun Glenn.

Corvette was super unlucky. Run off twice by other cars after leading for hours and hours.

Some of it's hard racing and some is just wreckless. Meyer Shank Racing is off to a rough start in the 60 GTP. Had their points and prize money stripped from their Daytona win due to some falsifying tire pressure data, then had some problems with the car during the race.

On the pole, leading for so long and then punted at the end after coming back from losing a lap with a bad damper. Tough way to end the race.
On the other side of the coin, GM did well with the Cadillac in GTP when the cars in front took each other out (including, unfortunately, the Corvette).
