Denafrips DAC

After reading so many great reviews about Denafrips DAC’s I’m thinking about getting the Terminator DAC. Does anyone have one and what are your opinions.

Highly recommend. I bought the original and then purchased the Plus version. The Plus version is worth the upgrade.

Both John Darko and Steve Guttenberg reviewed the Terminator and loved it. Steve Guttenberg is using currently one as his reference.

Got one. It cost 2.5 times my Yggy, so it should be better. There are plenty of comments and reviews.

Compared to Yggy, more resolving and deeper and a bit wider (sax early in Somebody/Young Americans moves left and back, not just left and lower volume). The smear I’d hear sometimes in notes is completely gone (mostly corrected by Zenith earlier). Bass is cleaned up (was thinking maybe the MC452 wasn’t enough for my XRT1Ks, nope not a problem though I’m sure more would be better). Does seem a bit brighter depending on OS/NOS compared to the Yggy(A2/Unison), but I have the carpets rolled up and put away for a few months before I’ll know for sure (puppy). I’d like to try other inputs but am limited by my streamer.

Hearing a lot more in old favorites, great hobby.

The plus is 40lbs. That's a beast for a DAC. My EVO100 DAC tips the scales at 29 lbs and I didn't think there were many Dacs out there that were heavier.

The Esoteric D02X weighs in at 59lbs+

As the OP of this thread, I would like to say that I got a Bryston BDA-3. Very pleased with my decision. Streaming Tidal all native through a Lumin U1. McIntosh C-47 preamp and MC462 amp. My Focal Sopra2’s sing every night.🎶🎶
