I've been using a Meridian streaming solution for a couple of years now.
Still have yet to see a more user friendly method.
Personally I have an MC200, which is pretty much a small form factor PC, fitted with an industrial spec hard drive and I assume some Meridian voodoo. Runs very quietly and just sits out of the way, doesn't need a NAS as it's got it's own internal HDD. That hosts a webpage that can be accessed either via a PC/laptop, or via an Ipad app. I tend to control it using Apps on any of our Iphones or Ipads.

The MC200 has an SPDIF output, which I used for a while.
More recently I updated my processor to a Meridian 861v4 with one of their "end-point" ID40 cards within it. That allows communications from the MC200 to the 861v4 via ethernet, and thus avoids SPDIF connections completely.

The 861v4 does all the usual AV processor stuff, including a rather benign room correction. Also happens to sound better in stereo than most stereo only sources I've heard.

Its convenient but cd's in my K03 sounded better. I played mine thru a Mietner MA1 DAC
and also thru the DAC in my K03. Also in only hold 500mb. Backing it up to a MAC takes many hours. Ultimately for me the sound quality just wasn't there.

I support this plan. :music: I use a Meridian's MD600 with an 818v2 myself.

The current MC200's are 1tb and no longer 500gb. Expansion is virtually limitless now that they work with QNAP.

As far as SQ goes, I found using the 808v3 as and endpoint with the MC200 was better than the Esoteric P03-D03-G0 combo. It should even be better with the ID41 card that upgrades the unit to the v5. The same cards can be found in the 818v2 and 861v8.

For best SQ you absolutely have to use a ID41 end point Sooloos component.
I think the 818v2 might be the absolute best one do to its stripped down features.

Thanks for the tips!

Also supports QNAP servers for additional storage. Load 10,000 CDs and a bunch of High Resolution PCM files, who needs streaming music? Sent from my iPad using A.Aficionado

The SQ of these units is only so-so unless you output to a Meridian endpoint or to one of your DACs.

Yep. My Ensemble is feeding the Meitner MA-1.

Older video, but shows how forward thinking Meridian Digital Music System* is.
