SR6015 Order In

Just ordered a new SR6015 to replace my blown up SR6005. Should be a big improvement.

Anybody have one of these?

Delivered and installed. Back breaking digging through all those wire and speaker cables.

Thanks! It seems to be a pretty nice 11.2 AVR. I'm running it in a 7.1 setup.

The onscreen setup menu is super easy to use and navigate. The Audyssey part took measurements from 8 locations. As with my past two AVR's that utilized Audyssey, it seems it always collates the data and sets the center channel EQ a bit too low.

The setup also recognized my Oppo UDP 203 and displays its name on the front dail display. I kinda like that part.

The eARC feature is super nice for streaming movies from my Apple TV catalog (which is farily extensive). With the eARC you get the full audio stream through the AVR which is very nice.

The new SR6015 sounds much more powerful and dynamic than my prior SR6005. Even though they are rated at the same 110 Watts, the new AVR is much better sounding, more powerful and just has better clarity.

We watched the 4K BluRay of Dune last night and the soundtrack was so good notwitstanding the somewhat recessed center channel output. I'll be adjusting that a bit later today.

All things considered,...A keeper.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the new a/v. I had a similar experience when I installed the 7012 back when. Originally I had it in a cabinet and I had to run a top exhaust ac infinity fan to cool it down. Now that it’s in the front rack (rather in the other room) I’m not sure I need it and the fan noise can be heard. I’m think of shutting it down and see what happens. Good luck.

I leave the cabinet doors wide open when the Marantz is in use as it will heat up pretty good if the doors are closed. Only downside is that I have to keep an eye on the cat. Sneaky rascal.

Update: eARC is damn quirky. It turns on the AVR automatically when the TV is turned on. I hate that! I normally just listen to the TV speakers with regular non-movie programs and don't want the hassle of trying to remember the TV just turned on the AVR (which is in a closed cabinet) every time I power on the TV.

Solution: In the Sony settings menu there is a tab to turn off auto eARC. That solves the immediate problem. No telling at this point if it creates another.

I was going to mention that I never had any luck using eARC. I have it off in all devices. I use my triggers or/and programmable remote.

eARC has really turned into a disappointment. Sounds like a good idea, but quirky. Anyways I find that using a roku or a similar thingy is a better user experience than smart tv, although I just really used some Sony and Samsung.
I have a beautiful closed cabinet with glass doors. GF loves this thing and it’s beautiful. If I’d do I again,I’d get mesh door - it’s hot in there. I had to stick an AC infinity Aircom on my Anthem Processor. Works great, doors closed, I can hear the fan a tiny bit though.

I'm finally coming to grips with what eARC is all about and how it seemingly puts a fair amount of control in your TV.

Once I found the TV setting that turns the AVR off when the TV is turned off my opinion of eARC started to change. Now I'm finding I actually like regular TV watching with the sound coming through the audio system.

So, I guess it's a keeper.
