KEF LS50 Wireless II
Anyone tried these? Receive excellent reviews, but wondering if anyone has owned and how did you find their interface, etc.
Thanks. |

Glenn, heard the first generation. I found them even better than the LS50 with an integrated. For 2500$, I doubt you will find a better system. Seemingly the second generation is even better. |
The Wireless Mk2 does sound better than the original Mk1 but it is more than that.
The biggest improvement to me was the upgrades to the streaming engine. HDMI ARC Roon (soon to be) Certified More inputs (coax and optical) Dual sub outs Much much much much better app Airplay 2 Chromecast Audio. The closest spec I can find for this is a Naim Uniti Atom and that can’t drive the LS50 Meta well enough (for me). The downside for me is that the parts are not “interchangeable”. Once something fails you have to repair or replace the boards. With separates, I can just change the streamer for instance for an upgrade in sound quality or supporting new streaming technologies etc. If your budget can stretch to separates, I’d suggest having a listen to the KEF R3 with the Naim Uniti Atom. Granted it does have more cabling (1 more vs the LS50W Mk2 in wireless pairing mode, same if you want higher than 24/96). But it does sound better to me while keeping the KEF sound signature. The R3s are more forgiving on amplifiers and they extend down a lot more. The Naim is also a joy to use. |
