Ok, I guess I'll start. Currently I have a VPI Scout, and now I'm thinking of upgrading to either the Classic 3 or the Aries. Any suggestion?

Both are terrific tables... comes down to which looks you prefer.

I agree. Both are well respected. I really like the look of Aries/HRX tables with that high gloss finish. Beautiful. I can say with confidence that the Benz LP-S cartridge is a heavenly match with the 10.5i VPI arm which best to my knowledge is the stock arm on the Aries 3 table. I also recommend upgrading to the Aluminum platter, if it doesn't come stock, along with a SDS. I gotta say, i much prefer the look of the Aries 3 table.

I believe there's an Aries 3D now available with the 2" alum platter, HRX clamp/periphery weight and the 3D tonearm of course.
Get that one :) |

Thanks gents. I'm actually 70% leaning towards the Aries with the aluminum platter.

Chad Stelley @ Acoustic Sounds feels that both are exceptional with the Classic 3 having slightly better pace, rhythm, and timing. He also felt that the Aries 3 had a slightly more relaxed presentation. Can't go wrong either way! ;)

I love this website! I am thrilled with my new Scout 1.1 and Dynavector 10X5....It seems you can always spend just a bit more......What a hobby!

I chose the Aries 3D over the Classic 3 because I wanted the outboard motor.
