Record Weight?

What record weight/clamp are you using?
I'm currently using a Stillpoints LS1v2 and it is the only record weight that I've used that has actually made a difference. All my pre-LS1 record weights worked well enough, but if put in a box and picked out blind I would not be able to tell the difference, one to the next. While a plus compared to no weight, they were all pretty much the same, SQ-wise. Not so the LS1. Truly worth the $$.
Which brings me to the reason for this post. Has anyone tried the HRS record weight? Am guessing it is at least as expensive as the LS1 and am wondering how it sounds compared to the LS1. Any experience with the HRS out there?

Glenn - I use the Stillpoints as well, been really pleased with the performance. I have never tried the HRS but I have seen it, I would assume it would work well. I would also think there wouldn’t be THAT much of a difference between high end, well built clamps like the Stillpoints and HRS.

Being a dealer for both, it is entirely appropriate that I chime in.

HRS makes two different models, one being heavier than the other. I still own them both, as I have a very large collection of TT record weights.
The HRS, like all their products looks fantastic. That said, however they offer nothing in the way of removing vibration from the surface of an album being played. I know that I’m not scoring any brownie points with HRS, but I’m being totally honest here.

The Stillpoints LPI v2 is unquestionably the “King of the Hill” in record clamps, at any price point. Believe me I know, I have some that cost $3K. They do look very cool, but that’s where it ends.

The LPI v2 is well worth retail, but of course Subscribers, don’t pay anywhere near that.

I've got the Stillpoints v1 that I got from Ivan, I don't always use it, but I do if I'm sitting down for some serious listening vs background music. FWIW I've never wanted to experiment beyond that, even the VPI weight that came with my HW-40 is still sitting unused in the box.

If a record weight can be considered a 'tweak', then the LPIv2 is the one tweak I've tried that is, as Ivan states, worth the $$. When I took the first one I got from Ivan to a friend's for a listening session he ask to keep it after the first LP. And he is a bigger tweak skeptic then I. As I owed him, I just ordered another. My only complaint is that it does not fit tightly on my Dual 701 spindle. That's OK, as the 701 is strictly for mono/MM listening.

Can't speak for the HRS weight but can tell you I love my Stillpoints LP1 V2. The only time I use the weight supplied with my VPI Prime sig is when I'm not using the TT, I just put it on there because it looks nice. Whenever I play vinyl I use the Stillpoints weight.

Same on my Avid Acutus. Avid clamp while not in use, Stillpoints LPI v1 when playing records.
