I've since discovered that I am not a fan of how most plastics sound.

I repurposed some 1"x12" aluminum and stainless steel from previous furniture projects and laid in on granual free Ice & Water Shield on MDF to good affect.

New design will be 1/4" aluminum on Isodamp or acoustic mastic on 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood in a symetrical sandwich.

Are you sure? I thought Formica was a laminate made with melamine resin, which is not a polymer.

Arent all LP supposed to be recorded with riaa processing ? Since its there to deal with the culprits inherent to vinyl, I assumed that It was kind of mandatory...

I’m not sure what my SRA Scuttle shelved are made of but it is very dense and heavy. Whatever it is, seems to work. I wonder if it is similar to Wilson X material which I believe is a phenolic resin of sorts...
