New JVC Laser Projectors

I'm surprised nobody has posted about the new line of laser based projectors. I'm interested in hearing thoughts about these new projectors.

I have the 3100 on order, it was supposed to be around in October and still no sign of them...so I can't tell you much! I have had 3 or 4 JVC PJs over the years and really like how they build them. I was leaning to going with Sony this time until these got announced, then it was a no brainer to come back to JVC. So the wait continues!

I have a price from my dealer for the JVC DLA-NZ8. I haven't actually ordered it yet -- but soon.

It looks like the 3100 and DLA-NZ8 are the same. Is one general retail and the other professional installation?

I'll answer my own question. The only difference is the channel of distribution.

Yup, seems so silly that they do this...

True, from the consumer's standpoint, it adds to confusion.

In the past, these would have been completely different channels.

System integrator models often had longer warranties, included an extra bulb (not applicable for lasers I guess) and included onsite service and set up from the installers. This allowed them to have a price premium instead of price matching the consumer models that didn’t have the same level of service and features.

Kinda like how some products in CostCo are basically identical to the ones in other retail chains except for the model number (and maybe bundled accessories).
