Your favorite Mac amplifiers?
Considering that we're in the market for more Mac amplification, I thought that I'd ask the board for thoughts on their favorite stereo and mono amps (regardless of age). I'd also really appreciate some words about why you like your favorite(s) as much as you do...
Thank you for your time :D |
To me, the sweetspot was probably the 601.

MC302 cause it's the one I have :)
|
Mine would be the quad balanced amps because they're so much quieter than the previous generations.
|
I enjoyed the MC 252 most.
Why? Who knows, time place and convenience I guess is why. |

Any of the reissue MC75 monoblocks would be my favorite, followed by any of the reissue MC275 amps, then the MC500, MC7150 & MC2125 stereo amps, in that order. The last two would benefit from a full recap.

Your favorite Mac amplifiers?
My favorite is the MC 2301. It sounds better than any of the McIntosh amps I’ve owned. Open, dynamic, and super quiet, with that beautiful midrange only a tube amp can reproduce.
Runner up MC 602 - because it is so damn audacious. A 600 wpc stereo amp that weighs 155 lbs? Really? The first watts of this gentle giant are pure class A. Honorable mention - MC 275V - the classic Mac tube amp honed to perfection with all its strengths and weaknesses intact and making beautiful music. I’m blessed to enjoy all three of these iconic products. |
