Really enjoyed the Springfield Trophy Match for targets and Springfield TRP compact for carry over the years. I've always been a Springfield fan. Reasonably priced, high quality firearms.

Website worked well for me on Firefox.
All the pistols he listed are top-notch, but I'll stick with my full-size stainless S&W 1911. Had a Commander for a long time. After about 6-700rds it started to become loose. By 1000rds it was a rattle-trap. The light allow frame is definitely not made for extensive shooting. There are fixes, but hardly worth the cost. And, there are another few dozen good pistols, to choose from. If any of these (or others) tickle your fancy then google up a thorough review by 'known' pistol shooter to see how it performed with 4-500rds put thru it.

Hmm back in the days I used to reload and practice at the range often, the Springfield 1911 was still feeling like new after 10,000 rounds. Of course I maintained it well but even 500 round practice sessions between cleanings were the norm.
