TAD Reference One Speakers

As I get closer to making a decision on these, I came across this pic with the woofers covered.

They also look a tad heavy. ;)

Ivan.......I like the look of the woofer covers. Very unique. The TAD R-1 speakers are gorgeous.

They look like winners to me Ivan - especially if they sound as good as you and the other attendees have described!

Ivan....since this discussion began, I've been finding myself wondering what these speakers must be like. They are ultra-serious, gorgeous, and come with stellar recommendations.

The picture you posted touches on a question I had-that being whether any type of grille cloth or any type of cover at all was offered for these. I would think you'd want some sort of cover to protect these babies, at the price level we're talking about. All the pictures I had seen so far only show them with no cover at all, and no apparent pegs, etc with which to attach a cover.

The woofer cover addresses the protection aspect somewhat, but I find myself thinking a nice, dark-colored grille cloth would be nicer. (maybe I'm just old-fashioned... :dunno: :D )

Perhaps TAD didn't want to mess up the nice baffle with grille attachment devices, and/or perhaps the acoustical transparency of the cloth was an issue to them.

Maybe the woofer covers will grow on me...I do have to also wonder if a similar cover is offered for the concentric midrange/HF driver.

These are gorgeous speakers...I know I'll never own a pair, not ever. :sigh:

They are unique Dan, hearing them is what really set the hook.

Pete

The standmounts had a similar cover for the midrange/HF drivers.
