More Bricasti goodness on its way
Just sent my M28s to Bricasti HQ to upgrade to the M32s and my M21 for a new display that Brian has offered. I look forward to hearing the difference the extra ooomph the M32s will bring.
Although I have never heard my M28s strain while driving my Strads or my current Kharmas but more power is always good right? Brian and Co are a great company who take care of their customers! |
How do they upgrade M28s to M32s?
The M32 is a lot bigger according to the specs. |

Christian, I am aware of some who have had the larger transformers of the M32 installed inside the M28 case (a so called M28SE), Brian told me that was not ideal as it puts the transformer closer to the ‘boards’ and measurably raises the noise floor. My understanding is Brian will use my M28 boards add the larger transformer and install it all in the M32 case. That provides the needed space to keep the noise floor super low yet yield slightly more output with significantly more power reserves.

My M32s and updated M21 arrived home and are now installed. The M21 has an updated display that offers a couple of different colors. Nice update.
My M28s were converted into M32s with the larger power supply and a MUCH larger cabinet. The M32s are huge and heavy beasts. After a short warm up, I can testify they sound better than the M28s in my system. The soundstage is deeper and wider, more holographic. The tone of my Kharmas has more richness/weight. All of that goodness presumably comes from the significantly larger power supply and overall lower noise floor from having that power supply further away/shielded from the amplifier boards/circuits. Now, they have been plugged in my system for 6 hours so things may change, get better? Not sure how. I don’t think so. My M28s were brand new and never really changed with burn in and other than the power supply, these are my M28s. The service from Brian Zolner and his team at Bricasti is first class. No nonsense, fair and efficient. Can’t ask for more. |
Congratulations Craig, what an awesome upgrade!
