Joey, Thank you for your excellent review…and we feel your dread…indeed most of us have been there. But you have something magnificent to look forward to.

Talked to my Dealer today. He thinks the D4 addresses many ailments of the previous versions. He was especially surprised by the 801D4, wich in his opinion stands head and shoulders above the other models in the range. I hear you thinking…”of course he would say that”, but I know him to be very critical and honest in his appraisals.

We are going to try to set up a comparison between the 801D4 and Marten Parker Quintet.

Jacques, I'm in!

Amazing review Joey. Eager to talk about it. Where was the demo? Grapevine Magnolia?

Also when you gonna sell me those Olympic 3’s?

Thanks, Joey!

A super helpful review. Kind of shocking that after 5 happy years with the 802D3--one of the best speakers anywhere--you're so quick to find their flaws.

It also rings true. I've really enjoyed my 805D3, but I've always sensed they were a bit too bright, a bit too forward. I will look forward to my own comparison on the lower end of the line.

Cheers!

Great review Joey! I’m sure many D3 owners will be taking a closer look at the D4’s and at their bank accounts given the price increase…

They are at the Magnolia on Preston and 75. I went there today and listened to them. The store in Grapevine will have the 801d4's in a couple of weeks if you prefer to give those a listen.

Thank you for amazing review!
Me too, I put together my 804D4 today, and all day long was enjoying listening good music. I should write some review but first, I am bad in writing, second, there is not much to say, honestly- speakers produce amazing, magic warm realistic music. So glad I didn't buy D3 and patiently waited 2 years. Now I feel bad for my lovely CM9 S1 as looking for them new owner in exchange for some $$$, but I wouldn't listen to them anymore anyway

Joey, this is a great review and I really enjoyed reading it! I will look at it again several times, for sure. I bought my first pair of B&w’s (802 series2?) back in 1994, (with money from my Mom after she passed away) and now have a pair of 800D3s-I enjoy them so much. They help me remember my Mom when I listen.

It will be fun to see what folks think of the 801 D4’s compared to the 800 D3s.

So, don’t be sad, be happy that you made at least one other guy (me) not question his sanity when he is thinking about spending another several thousand $$ on yet another speaker upgrade!

Thanks again for for taking the time to write such a thorough review.
