DSD and Esoteric

Hello

When I play DSD64 files on my MAC into my Esoteric K-07x, the digital readout on the Esoteric shows “USB 352.8 kHz. My audio player , Audirvana Plus, show “DSD 64”. Why doesn’t Esoteric shows “DSD”? Please see the attached Pic. Shouldn't my unit display the same that is shown on this pic of a K-03x, "USB DSD2.8" ?

Thanks

Joe

Joe: I recall the same thing but there is a setting you will want to change in Preferences and the Audio system tab next to Native DSD Capability. I will try to figure out which to select in the drop down box this evening. Hopefully someone else can also provide the answer. Jim

I just had this same issue with my K-01X. Try this in the Audirvana menu:

Audirvana Plus=>Preferences=>Audio System=>Native DSD Capability=>DSD over PCM Standard 1.0

Now its seems to work fine.

Best,
Ken

Make sure you have updated to the latest version and try also DSD over PCM Standard 1.1. I will adjust these settings depending on the file type. Have fun.

DSD works fine with my Aurender and K01X. It's another reason why I prefer turnkey servers.

Jim, Ken,
That worked.
Thanks so much

I am curious what filters etc those of you with K0_Xs are using when streaming DSD. For FLAC, I use 8Fs for UPCONV and SDLY2 for PCMF but I find that Orig and FIR2 seem better with DSD...

Others?

I too settled on 8x and SLDY2. I use it regardless of file type. I hadn't thought of different filter for different file resolution or PCM vs DSD. When I get my digital back in my system later this week I will see if I can hear a difference with DSD and Fir2/orig. To tell the truth, I didn't hear much difference, AT ALL, between all the filters when I was breaking it in. They all sounded very good.
