Reviews I've read have all been positive. The AK47 is known for its reliability under sometimes extremely harsh conditions. Never known for great accuracy, it is a 'minute of man' in accuracy, but don't expect many bullseyes at 100yd. That said, very likely more people have been killed in wars, revolutions, terrorist attacks and the like with the AK47 then any other rifle ever made. The Mauser bolt-action is likely 2nd. Being primarily made of stamped steel, it is cheap and easy to make and has probably been made in 30 or 40 countries around the world.

An interesting read. "AK-47: The Weapon that Changed the Face of War" by Larry Kahaner.
