A new Maine Coon Kitten Family member (Ruff) is coming by year end ...

Happier Days are on the way,

below is the Thread I did not long ago when I had to have tiger put to sleep while holding him. http://www.imboc.com/forums/images/I...ace_crying.png
Link below,

http://www.audioaficionado.org/where...july-12th.html

As the Title says, we are pretty sure there will be a Maine Coon Kitten at our home by year-end. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...pslt3x34qd.jpg

Cathy & I have discussed this now for awhile and both of us have agreed to get another Maine Coon kitten.

As I told Cathy (Wife) I would love to do that but only if I can find an owner of a Maine Coon Cattery I trust.

And folks the ones of you that are still here know that I am definitely one that does not give up easily when doing research for something.

I have spent hours upon hours, days & weeks on the computer doing nothing but researching Maine Coon Catteries that border TN.

And I can tell you for a fact that there is a lot of difference in catteries.

I'm not going to post here any examples of some of them as IMO it would serve no useful purpose.

Let's just say that if any of you ever decide to get a puppy or kitten make sure you do yourself a major favor and do the research.

In my case I did find, finally, a Maine Coon Breeder in Dublin, Ohio.

The name is, Maine Delite Cattery and the owner is, Michelle (Mickey) Cole.

After reading everything she had on her INTERNET Site multiple times I finally told Cathy I'm ready to do it.

I did the PayPal reservation for a Maine Coon kitten and very soon after that I heard from Mickey in an e-Mail.

We have exchanged multiple e-Mails since and everything I have asked she has answered completely to my satisfaction.

Her Web Site is what I would call, Professional & Totally Awesome.

I'm not 100% positive but I think in September our new male Maine Coon kitten will be born.

If that turns out to be a fact and one of the litter Mickey feels like is an excellent fit for me then probably in the month of December Cathy & I will be bringing home a new (Family) member.

This might seem like it's a bit early to some of you but those that know me know I don't procrastinate.

I am so "Fired-Up" on getting a new Maine Coon kitten from Mickey that I think it would be like one would say an expectant parent.

I would like to share with you other Pet-Lovers why I chose Maine Delite Cattery and Mickey.

This is Mickey give or take a few yrs.

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...psj9yr4fdf.jpg

And below are a few examples of why I chose her and her Cattery.
(I think you all will agree with me)

Coon cats are home raised and valued family members. The Maine Coon

Cattery is closed to outside breeding and we are firmly dedicated to the
health and welfare of our Maine Coons. Providing exceptional pets for
those looking for lap buddies and/or show interests. We look for animal

enthusiasts that will appreciate these great Maine Coons, and work hard

at providing loving homes for a lifetime. I have dedicated my resources

in striving to produce the best examples of these extraordinary Maine

Coons. While working hardest to maintain the above standard qualities

we all love. My children and grand children have the same passion as I
do for the Maine Coon..... we have always grown up with pets and they
will forever be family members to us.

After working as a Vet Technician for over 15 years in Indiana, and
breeding/training dogs for over 30 years, I have a huge respect for these

beautiful cats and take being a breeder as a serious responsibility. As

should pet ownership of all kinds.

Well, it's Show-Time as always when I do something important.

I don't think I will need to type any explanations to explain the pictures.

Cathy & I are ready for our soon to be new Maine Coon Kitten (Ruff) to join our Home and him as a Family member.

Terry... Good for you both! You sure have lots of love in your heart to share. I am already looking forward to see Ruff's arrival. :)

Congratulations! Ruff is one lucky kitty. If I am not mistaken, Maine Coon cats grow to be huge and one of the very few cat breeds that love water. I can't wait to see pictures.

woodlander 08-07-2016 09:19 PM

Congratulations. I had a Maine Coon for many years and he was great cat. It looks like your kitty is a very fortunate critter and is getting a very nice home. Hopefully your cat will develop a love for music.

Well that makes at least two of us that want to see him.

I'm pretty sure Mikey will be sending me up dates with pictures once he is born and as the months go by.

You can count on you guys seeing things as they progress.

Yes, Maine Coon Male cats do get very large compared to any normal house cat.

More than likely something in the range of 20 to 25 Lbs or so.

Your right they do like water and they can indeed swim if they want to.
Their coats are (Water-Proof) so water does not effect them.

They also will play in their water containers with their front paws. :D

Well as many of my friends have said if you get past tiger passing away. :sigh:

And you do decide at some point to get another Maine Coon he will live the life of a King.

Oh, don't know what this new Maine Coon will do but tiger spent many-many hrs. right beside me on the love seat in the Home Theater.
He would even make a Loud Crying Sound at the door to the Home Theater for me to come let him up.

Here he is hanging out and I just happened to have my cell with me and quickly took a picture.

Dan,

Hey my man I have definitely done some tears over the passing of tiger that's a fact.

But, Cathy has kept at me to try to look ahead and give another Maine Coon kitten a loving home.

So, time does heal that's for sure so finally I made the decision to move forward with getting a new kitten.

We both are very-very excited that this has now actually been put into motion.

Jim,

Thanks buddy. :D

I think I can agree with you for sure that the new kitten will be one very happy and content kitten at this house.

He will become an instant family member and has his own room that will be ready for him in the near future.

And of course he will have full run of the house as soon as he is comfortable to explore it.

Yes, guys that includes the Home Theater when I'm in it.

Terry, Congratulations! Looking forward to pictures and stories of your new family member Mickey!

After many, many years of not having a cat in the house and I always considered myself to be more of a dog person, our soon to be 1 year old Siberian cat Meeka adds so much to our lives with his presence.

It is interesting that Main Coons look so much like Siberians, when I was researching the topic, it turns out that the Siberian is considered genetically ancestral to all modern long hair cats. Where it gets interesting is that The Siberian Forest cat is closely related to the Norwegian Forest cat which is logical due to geography but from there...

The generally accepted hypothesis among breeders is that the Maine Coon is descended from the pairings of local short-haired domestic cats and long-haired breeds brought overseas by English seafarers (possibly by Captain Charles Coon) or 11th-century Norsemen. The connection to the Norsemen is seen in the strong resemblance of the Maine Coon to the Norwegian Forest Cat, another breed that is said to be a descendant of cats that traveled with the Norsemen. :smoking:
The ancestral origins of the Maine Coon are unknown there is only speculation and folk tales. One such folk tale involves Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France, who was executed in 1793. The story goes that before her death, Antoinette attempted to escape France with the help of Captain Samuel Clough. She loaded Clough's ship with her most prized possessions, including six of her favorite Turkish Angora cats. Although she did not make it to the United States, her pets safely reached the shores of Wiscasset, Maine, where they bred with other short-haired breeds and developed into the modern breed of the Maine Coon.

Another folk tale involves Captain Charles Coon, an English seafarer who kept long-haired cats aboard his ships. Whenever Coon's ship would anchor in New England ports, the felines would exit the ship and mate with the local feral cat population. When long-haired kittens began appearing in the litters of the local cat population, they were referred to as one of "Coon's cats

What great news!

krustycat 08-08-2016 05:35 PM

I am really happy for you both.

As a side note, it's been 6 months since I changed my cats' diet to be only raw frozen food.

They are doing fantastically great!

You may want to investigate that option too.

Well "Ruff" has turned out to be ... {Rascal} the Red Maine Coon kitten

Guys,

Meet "Rascal"

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...psjusdxtem.jpg

There is a really Super Cool Story to how "Ruff" has turned out to be "Rascal".

It goes like the following ..................

I was thinking about different things regarding when "Ruff" would be born next month this past Sunday.
So Cathy and I were discussing the situation and I said you know what I think I'll just call Mickey and get the "Facts".
Yes, it was Sunday but after multiple E-Mails between Mickey and myself I sort of knew her personality.
So, I make the call and she answered the phone and I told her who was on this end of the line.
She has this really cool way about her when you talk with her.
It's like she is so doggone personable even in her voice over the phone the same way she comes across in E-Mails.

Moving right along ...........

She says something like Terry I have this really Special Big Red Boy Maine Coon Kitten that is not on the Cattery Site for Sale and I have thought about you.
I can't make up my mind though as he is so sweet and loving I have picked him out to keep for myself.
Then she preceded to direct Cathy & I where to go on her site to see him with her holding him.
Sure enough he instantly does get your attention when we saw his picture.
Mickey says I know you said you wanted a kitten from Riggs that is a Dark Brown color but I still thought of you as Big Red Boy is so much of a "Rascal" with his mom.
He is so LOUD calling her when she walks away that he just keeps it up until she comes back to him.
He has her wrapped around his paws ............

The bottom-line is once we saw him we both instantly knew we wanted him if Mickey would let us Adopt him.
She said she would continue to think about it and keep us in mind.
Well, I just knew from everything she said regarding "Rascal" he was exactly what I wanted.
So I did in a very casual way http://www.imboc.com/forums/images/I...e_surprise.png keep subtly commenting to Mickey that I wanted "Rascal" her Big Red Boy.

Now comes the really Good-Stuff and I'll just Copy & Paste her E-Mail to me from Monday (Yesterday) I don't think she will mind.
Quote:

Your killing me.. But the Red boy I call Rascal is your's if you and Cathy would like to have himhttp://www.imboc.com/forums/images/s...icon_smile.gif I know he would have the best home EVER!
Yes, I instantly E-Mailed her back and thanked her over & over for her decision on letting us Adopt "Rascal" her Big Red Boy born on July 10th 2016.
I also made the decision to keep the name she has been using, "Rascal" for him as I think IMHO that shows the proper "Tribute" and how "Appreciative" I am to Mickey.
I really doubt there are many breeders that pick out a certain kitten for themselves and then let it go to a client for Adoption.

Now you know the, Rest-of-the-Story on why there is no "Ruff" and there is a confirmed "Rascal".

He will be growing really fast for the 1st I think 8 months or so.

I think he will keep growing until the ages of 4 to 5 years old to reach full maturity.

He might be like between 25 to 30 Lbs at full maturity.

He's gonna love his new Dad and his new home.

Hello pet lovers,

Just now received the pictures below from Mickey at Maine Delite Cattery in Ohio.

She said in texting that Rascal is now chasing Mom around. http://www.imboc.com/forums/images/I...e_surprise.png

Now I bet that's a site to be seen for sure.

I also from Mickey found out that because Taylor & Riggs had only 1-kitten (Rascal) in the litter that Rascal stays with Mom (Taylor) until I come to pick him up.

Talk about an education I'm getting it as I had no idea how this all really works but I'm finding out through Mickey.

Below is Rascal now 5-weeks old.

Thank you for this heart-warming post. I literally just finished reading about a 6 week old kitten that was rescued from a dogfighting operation--they are dyed different colors and used as "bait" or "chew toys" for the dogs. (It was a little chewed up but will survive...) I was wiping some tears when I came upon your beautiful story. The world needs more people like you. Rascal is adorable, and I know he will be well loved. Maine Coons are such noble animals.

Sad story for sure you shared above on the Dog-Fighting operation. :icon_thumbsdown: :tears: :icon_thumbsdown:

Rascal is going to be the new Maine Coon kitten probably coming to his new home in October.

Part of Rascal's new CatsPlay furniture just arrived late this evening by UPS.

I'll get the pictures taken, resized, and loaded in photobucket so I can post them tomorrow for you guys that are following this.

Hello pet people,

I just now loaded the new pictures of Rascal's incoming furniture starting to arrive.

The much larger pieces will be coming last as they had to be made and shipped by truck.
(One item weighs in at a hefty 160 Lbs)

Below are pictures of what just arrived so far by UPS late yesterday evening.

Rascal's new home is coming right along and I'm thinking he will make himself right at home once I pick him up from Mickey in Dublin, OH.

You can see where the different items have been placed in the rooms below in the pictures.

Hey Dan,

You know I was just messing with you in the above post I'm sure.

Rascal is going to live the life of a King once he is brought home by me.

I am in constant contact with Mickey in Dublin, OH. about Rascal.

She keeps me up to date on what he is doing and also even did take a very short video of him last Saturday.
She sent it via text message and I have no idea how to get it to photobucket.
If I knew how, if there is anyway to do that, I would post up the video even though it is very brief.

Hi gang,

I just got an E-Mail from Mickey and she sent me a picture of Rascal from last night.

She was playing with him and took this picture.
