Paradigm Flagship Persona 9H in Blue

1 Attachment(s)
I like the look of the Persona 9H--very cool in blue!

Also pictured, one of four powered, 8.5" differential-drive woofers per side that benefit from built-in Anthem Room Correction (ARC).

Just got done tweaking my new monitor, and that blue looks awesome!

Crunchyriff 10-28-2017 03:53 PM

Those are pretty spectacular in a very 'different' way. Has anybody acquired and/or spent some quality time with the 9H's yet?

Persona 9H

Have a pair of these on order. Waiting to see what the new finish choices are before they will be built, but I'm looking for suggestions as to amplification. I would think most low power amps would suffice, given their sensitivity. Currently have Magtechs powering Magnepan 3.7's, and will no doubt try to sell both and get something else. Anyone heard these and have suggestions? I do like to turn up the volume on occasion.)))
Thanks
Carl

Problem with our local Paradigm dealers is none of them brought in the Persona line. Too bad, as I would like to hear them. A nice 75wpc tube amp should make them sing very loudly with their 96db efficiency.

From what I can see on their website , they seemed to restrict the Persona line to just a few dealers. Believe from talking to one that they had to go for "training" to get the line. And I'm sure the price point caused many to resist. tough sell in the higher end market , as many of their current dealers probably sell to a lower price point.

Heard the 9H at the audio show a couple of months back driven by the Moon Audio 700 Integrated fed by the N10 server sounded fantastic but cant help think these should sound even better with a good Class A amp.

Wondering about a low power Pass Labs unit. A lot available used and the price is relatively reasonable.

GreginNH1 03-17-2018 06:25 PM

We had a private showing of theses speakers the week they unveiled in the US. We used my Accuphase E-470. The Anthem/Paradigm rep was floored. He said that he had never heard the 9H sound so good. Up until that time, they were using Anthem amplification.

MAXDOG923 03-17-2018 11:58 PM

Thanks...I think a low power amp might just be the ticket,,,

I believe Paradigm recommends between 15- 500 watts, as to how much you need depends on your room size and as you said occasionally like to crank it up I would go with at least the XA 60,s or 100,s. but you can try a XA 30 to see how it works.Lots of guys running the XA 60.5 believe its the best sounding amps Pass made, don't know haven't heard a Pass in a long time but I would not buy any amp without being able to audition first with those fine 9H,s you have coming.

Lots of really fine Class A amps and integrated out their to choose from depending on your budget.

MAXDOG923 03-18-2018 07:55 AM

Thanks....The 60 0r 100 are both ones I'm considering ..as well as ARC 75se....lots of choices !!
Anyone with experience with the 75SE with the tube upgrade have a comment on how this combination might sound?
I'm a long way from dealers so trying to rely on seasoned ears who are fortunate enough to hear this gear often...
Thanks for any and all comments..

I am waiting for a pair of Persona 9H...my amps are Triode M845...SET with 50 watts...I have high expectations!!
I know a guy who have a 9h with a 300B SET 8 wt amp with fantastic results.

MAXDOG923 03-29-2018 01:52 PM

Are you waiting for the new colors to appear, or have you selected one of the 4 current finishes?

519audionut 03-29-2018 08:37 PM

While not exactly low power, I have auditioned the 9H, 7F, 5F, and 3F at my dealer using a Bryston 4B3.
While each pair sounded spectacular, my favorite was the 5F

There is a pair of these in blue now sitting in my living room. Sensitivity (Room / Anechoic) 93 dB / 90 dB.

I'm trying to find a dealer close to me that has the Persona 9Hs on the floor as possible replacement of my Monitor Audio PL 500.

Shoalcove 03-30-2018 11:32 AM

I listened to the 3F’s at a local dealers last month for almost an hour and thought they sounded very good. Clean and clear, and fast sounding to my ear. They were hooked up to a Simaudio 700i and looked as good as they sounded in blue. There sure isn’t much chatter about them online but hopefully that will change as more folks get a chance to hear them.

dixon007 03-30-2018 12:46 PM

I’ve had the Persona 7F coupled with Mac 1.2kW/C2600 for a few months now and have been very pleased as the richness, depth/breadth of soundstage, and musicality (especially the bass and mids) have evolved as these fine components break-in. Looking forward hearing about Carl’s forthcoming experience.

raidho 03-31-2018 04:05 PM

Halo,

the Persona 9h in metallic Sonic Silver with a Grandinote Shinai /stereo 37watt plus Klimax dsm3 ....a preampli always present in a High-End system !!!

You FLY.......really COOL high end system..

MAXDOG923 04-03-2018 12:48 AM

Got a question for those who probably know much more about audio than I do..Will my future Persona 9H's benefit at all from a more powerful amp in the bass end, given that they have their own amps for the woofers? I would think that it wouldn't matter, but as I'm considering possible lower power tubes, though I'd ask. Thanks all.

Finally I received my new Persona 9H.

And what can I say?...Simply amazing, no brightness at all...only natural sound.

Paired with my amps SET Triode M845 (only 40w), this is a match made in heaven.

The Persona 9H only have 60h...I will keep burn these things for more 300h, and probably the sound will improve even more.

Congratulations! I listened to a couple of songs through these at a local dealer last week and I was very impressed! I’m sure you are/will enjoy them.

Congrats. Enjoy for many years.

Got a pair on order as well..just waiting until the new finishes are announced, this Thursday.
Do you find they will play at higher volume with the 40 watt amp?? Sometimes I DO like to turn it up!!
Trying to figure out the way to go with amplification.
Considering the new Pass XA25, one of their Class A monos, such as the Ax 60.8, ARC 75SE, although I think I'd like to stay with solid state, as the warmup time is a pain sometimes...
Will follow your posts, as they break in..Enjoy!

Mainline Audio 05-06-2018 05:46 PM

The 9H are very sensitive...no need for high power...my amps drive them easily.

If you want solid state amps, the Pass class A is a good idea or the Accuphase A70 will be a excellent match.

MAXDOG923 05-10-2018 05:30 PM

Lots of new finishes announced today...
Is this going to be a new trend in speaker design??
