Just Bought Two Nice Australian Wagyu Steaks

Strip steaks to be precise. Will be grilling them tonight. $40 per pound. The way I figure it I'm saving money over Ruth Chris or Flemings, etc.

This will be my very first experience with any form of Wagyu beef. It's super well marbled so I'm hoping tender and tasty. :wine:

My b'day dinner is the evening of the 16th and thinking that would be an excellent choice.
Post a couple of pic's when you grill them.
We wiill enjoy ours with a bottle of 2018 Rattlesnake Zinfindel.

Happy Birthday Glenn! My B-day is in a couple weeks on the 24th. Our local market has been carrying this type of beef for a couple of months now and I wanted to give it a dry run tonight. If it's as good as I'm hoping I'll buy more to grill on Christmas Eve along with some nice lobster tails that I've been holding on to in the freezer.

We'll be enjoying the meal with a NV French Sparkling Brut Rose from the Loire valley. It drinks just as good as the more expensive champagne's from Epernay and Reims but at a fraction of the cost.

I'll get some pics together tonight.

Meanwhile, back in Australia. Drunk Australians after an Office Christmas Party.

Thank you and Happy Birthday to you, as well.

Indeed, we will also be opening a bottle Cremant D'Alsace (Champagne, just from Alsace and not from the Champagne region) to go with the opening act of our dinner (likely a cheese plate with fruit & nuts) before we get serious with the Zin.

Enjoy your meal.

I buy high end steaks from these folks. Highly recommended.

Here it is. Dinner is over and I'm retiring to the audio room with a shot of Maker's 46.

As usual the steaks were more than we could eat in one sitting. (Note to self, buy one - not two)

With the Potato's Romanoff and Haricot Vert, it was quite a feast. For the upcoming birthday I think one steak to compliment the lobster tails.

All-n-All, a super tender and tasty steak. I do like this Australian Wagyu quite a bit. Not an everyday steak (unless you're holding) but once a month or so it's a winner...

BTW, we enjoyed these with a generous knob of compound butter made with white truffle. Oh, yeah baby...

And I forgot to mention. Tonight it's Willie Nelson "Stardust" on tape backed up by a bit of good ol' Patsy Cline. :music:
