Besides the foam squares on the JBL L100 grill, the L166 grill, with its stamped dimples, is proabaly one of the most unusual grills in the entire JBL speaker line.

That it was, Dan....and made it a very attractive speaker. I like the 066 tweeter too, it is also used in my 4313B's and it's a sweet unit.

A nice pair of L166's will look nice in any room.

Pete.......A pair of L166's sitting on a pair of your JBL logo speaker stands would be beautiful.

Are the log stands too short for these though? I know that they the original JBL logo stands were sold specifically for the L100 and L166, but they are only a few inches tall and would basically put the speakers on the floor. That just seems too low to me.

Am I wrong? I agree that they would look real nice on the stands ....

Matt.......The JBL stands don't just raise the L166, the also angle the speaker back to improve the online axis at the seating position.

I miss my JBL's. I had the stands, a pair of L100's, a pair of L36's and a pair of 4311's. Great speakers and wish I had a pair now along with some Kenwood intergrated's.

Just what is it, I ask myself, and all of you, that makes JBL so popular? Can I try to give a reasonable answer, one that rings true? I think they are so prominent beacause everyone from casual audio fan to serious musician to full-blown audiophiles recognize the quality, whether it be how good they sound, how well they're built, or how long they last, or how timeless their styling is. I know from owning the pro models that they can take anything I can throw at them in terms of fat, loud bass guitar playing. I've blown more mid grade 15's trying to get the sound of E-140's but now I have 4 of them. I need not worry now. My Crown XLS 802 loves them, a match made in heaven. The same config works wonders as subs in my home set-up. What more could you ask for?
