Default KX-R and MX-R Still Capture My Imagination

I still find myself returning to the Ayre website, and reviewing the data on the KX-R preamplifier, and the MX-R mono power amplifier. These two products have garnered some serious respect this past year or so, and rightfully so. Not only are they uniquely engineered, and CNC carved from solid blocks of aluminum, they have earned their fair share of audio awards this past year. I have yet to audition the KX-R preamp and a pair of mono block MX-R amps, but I plan to do that in the new year. I want to hear what all the hoopla is about.

Dan...if this combo dies it for you, what would they displace? We know Serge vouches for the KX-R although he thought the KX-R and MX-R combo were a bit too bright with the Wilsons I believe. My sense is that the SF GM's in the Studio system may appreciate the sure footedness of this Ayre combo maybe a bit more than the PMCs. What do you think Dan?

Cyril.......I think you're right. Were the Arye KX-R and a pair of MX-R mono blocks to replace anything, it would probably be the tube system. That's not likely to happen, though. I love the tube system with the GM's.

i don't know Dan...i can think of two ways I would like to exit this world:

1) is listening to amazing music on an amazing system fully transporting me on sonic waves of ecstasy towards the light,

and 2) in bed with one of your Santa girls with a big smile on my face and a sudden ecstatic cardiac event that vaults me towards the light

Hi Dan,

The 'D' word is OK! I have made some search and came up with the following:

D = Dan
D = Dandy
D = Dearest
D = Darling

Now, even D = Die is OK. Why? It simply meant "To Pine With Desire, Love, Longing" .....

Come on, its not that word ......

Cheers!

Your point "2" sure personified the abbreviation DCS amply.

Come to think of it, this three letters are the name of a highly respected CD Transport/DAC. Could it be ... Hmmmmm
